The planned initiative aims to stimulate economic growth and prosperity in the UK by facilitating responsible innovation and mitigating regulatory uncertainties. Furthermore, it aims to enhance public confidence in AI by addressing associated risks and safeguarding fundamental human values. Simultaneously, with the help of the framework, the UK aims to solidify its global leadership by employing AI technology to tackle worldwide challenges, all while developing new regulatory approaches to steer responsible innovation. The planned framework aims to prioritise the development of an evidence-based approach to learning from practical experience and adapting continuously to establish an optimal regulatory environment. The framework is built upon five fundamental principles: safety, transparency, fairness, accountability, and contestability.
